Your Free Time

Naturally taking care of children is the focal point of your au pair program in Germany. However: a stay in Germany for 6 to 12 months without free time is impossible! Au pairs use their free hours during the week in order to go to German language classes, meet up with other young people from Germany or abroad or work out at a gym.

The public transportation system in large German cities is generally very convenient, allowing you to independently explore your new home in Germany. Many cities offer a great variety of cultural activities and institutions. Visit a local arts exhibition, meet some friends at a city festival or see your favorite band in concert! 

You could also easily hop on a train and visit another city or even another country within just one day. The short distances between the different regions of Germany and its neighboring countries is suprising to many au pairs from overseas! 

You will also be able to experience German holidays and other local traditions with your German family and share some of your customs and holidays with them.
