Your Preparation

We believe that the program begins before you arrive in Germany. We will give you a handbook that will help you prepare for a successful stay in Germany. We also suggest to read a little bit about Germany and - of course - get your language skills up to at least a basic level of German.

Another important part of your preparation is the "Pre-Departure Orientation Project". This project involves acquainting yourself with the following topics: your new home and environment in Germany; cultural differences; games for children of all ages; possible activities for rainy days, sunny days, afternoons during the holidays, hours at home; and much, much more. By giving some thought to these topics before your program begins, you will be much better prepared for your host family and children.
